A little more about our speaker...
Latina Griffin, LCSW is in private psychotherapy practice in Round Rock, Texas specializing in trauma recovery.
She earned her BS from Brigham Young University in psychology and communications, then completed her MS in Social Work at University of Texas in Austin.
She and her husband Scott have called Austin home since 1998 and are the proud parents of a 17 yr old son, and twin 14 yr old daughters. All very active in high school so if you ask Latina her hobbies she will tell you: Band Mom and Cheer Mom. Really, they make tee shirts for both.
Anxiety and depression overrun us . Without meaning to, we misinterpret situations around us. We believe the automatic thoughts that pop and our head. We use past experiences to inform how we react to the present before questioning if the are really the same.
Together we’ll learn simple tools to train ourselves (and our children) to de-escalate our response and more accurately evaluate situations. These tools can be used discreetly across situations- no yoga poses in the grocery store.
We will also learn to identify and name emotions which automatically alters response.
